Giovani Segura (32-4-1, 28 KO’s) was stopped in the 11th round by the WBA and WBO flyweight champion, Juan ‘Gallo’ Estrada

MEXICO CITY,Mexico - Giovani Segura (32-4-1, 28 KO’s) was stopped in the 11th round by the WBA and WBO flyweight champion, Juan ‘Gallo’ Estrada (27-2, 20 KO’s) this pastSaturday at the Arena Ciudad de Mexico in front of nearly 10,000 boxing fans.

‘El Gallo’ proved to be the more dominant fighter with much more speed and power. Bleacherreport.com said that Segura “wasn’t ready for the advanced skill set the 24-year-old Estrada carried into the ring with him”.

Estrada was very precise with his punches and looked crispier than Segura when he moved around the ring. On many occasions Segura was hit hard by the devastating fists of Estrada who managed to infiltrate the right side of Seguras eye with his precise punching combinations.

“Giovani Segura did not look like the same Segura who had knocked out Hernan Tyson, nor Ivan Calderon”, expressed Box Azteca well known fight announcers.

For Segura, it was a long flight back home to the city of Los Angeles, CA where he met upwith his family late Monday night.

“This was a tough fight for Segura, he took in a ton of damage from ‘Gallo’ and that’s why we had to throw in the towel by the 11th round” said Azteca Promotions own, Richard Mota.

On the other hand, Christian ‘Chimpa’ Gonzalez of #teamazteca was not able to hop on the ring due to certain circumstances dealing with his opponent. But Azteca Promotions has made an announcement that Chimpa will be fighting this September 20th in Tijuana, Baja California, Mexico during a Promociones Zanfer event highlighting Alejandro ‘Cobrita’ Gonzalez (23-1-2, 15 KO’s) as the main event along with Pedro ‘Lil Pete’ Duran (7-0, 5 KO’s).

Zanfer in collaboration with Azteca Promotions will be working together once again this September with a fight card consisting of now three of #teamazteca fighters.
